1 minute to save the world - Film Competition
30th November, 2010
1minutetosavetheworld.com is an online film competition that encourages people from all over the world to submit a one minute length film about climate change.
With an aim to raise public awareness of the seriousness of climate change and what can be done to combat it, 1minutetosavetheworld.com has evolved from its success last year and harnessed the support of a range of high profile environmental organisations and media giants, such as UNICEF, Sony, Greenpeace, the British Council and WWF.
The submitted films must be entered into one of three climate change categories, with a host of media executives and celebrity eco-activists making up the judging panel. Prizes will be given to the winning filmmakers of each category, which include a range of Sony gadgets, the opportunity to broadcast the winning film internationally and £5000 to be spent on a winning proposal.
Filmmakers from all over the globe and of all age groups are encouraged to take part in this international climate change film effort.
Carl Thompson’s film submission to 1minutetosavetheworld.com entitled ‘A Switch Odyssey’, focuses on the message that even in a world ravaged by the consequences of wasted electricity, it only takes one finger to change everything. With the film’s dramatic crescendo nearing its end, Carl shows that it requires a single action, such as turning off the light switch, to contribute to saving the world from climate change.
The competition is now open to all film submissions until the deadline of January 17th, 2011.
