Ecologist and Resurgence Merger
Why has the Ecologist merged with Resurgence?
This merger brings together two cutting-edge environmental publishers and creates a stronger voice for change. The Ecologist is returning to its roots in print and Ecologist content will once again be published in magazine format. From September 2012, Resurgence magazine will be published as Resurgence & Ecologist.
Why Resurgence?
Resurgence magazine was first published in 1966 and the first issue of the Ecologist was published in 1970. The Ecologist and Resurgence have had a long association as pioneers in the environmental movement.
Teddy Goldsmith (founder of the Ecologist) and Satish Kumar (editor-in-chief at Resurgence) worked together in 1972 and both represented Britain at the first UN Environmental Conference. Resurgence and the Ecologist share the same values and have worked collaboratively at forefront of the environmental movement for many years.
Why is Zac leaving the Ecologist?
Zac stepped away from all editorial involvement in the Ecologist after he became an MP. He is now handing over the leading role to Satish Kumar, who has been editing Resurgence magazine for almost 40 years. Satish Kumar has had a long and close association with the Goldsmith family and the Ecologist.

What will happen to my personal subscription data?
Your personal subscription data has been transferred to the Resurgence Trust.
What about my privacy?
The Resurgence Trust will respect and protect the privacy of Ecologist subscribers and visitors to the website, as it does for all Resurgence members and visitors to the Resurgence website. We do not sell, give or barter email addresses or pass on any details about our visitors, members or The Resurgence Trust or Ecologist subscribes to other organisations. Full privacy policy
How will the change affect registered users?
A registered user does not have access to the premium content on the Ecologist website, so there are no changes to the content that you can access. During the transfer process, registered users who did not tick the option: “I agree to receiving emails from partners of this site” were removed from the system (for data protection reasons your details could not be passed to Resurgence). You are welcome to register on the Ecologist site again. Please note, you will need to re-register using a new user name and password. We apologise for any inconvenience, but hope you understand that this is to protect the privacy of your personal data.

If you have a direct debit agreement with the Ecologist, no further payments will be taken.
How and when will future subscription payments be collected?

What if I choose to cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription any time up until the end of the 6 months free period (Feb 2013) and receive the same pro-rata refund of your outstanding Ecologist subscription.
