Lancaster University Entry

The Carbon Competition is a unique new project at Lancaster University which encourages energy saving in student residences. Utility use is metered at an individual flat level, and the equivalent carbon emissions are displayed online! Winning flats, with the lowest carbon footprint, are not only reducing their energy footprint, but also receive exciting prizes! These have ranged from a trolley dash to cash prizes at the end of term. A team of student volunteers the ‘Carbon Crusaders’ visit the flats on a regular basis to keep residents up to date with their position and give them tips on how to improve
