Aromatherapy Associates launches London store
19th October, 2011
More than 30 years after it launched, Britain’s leading aromatherapy brand finally has a store of its own. Ruth Styles reports
Despite having been around for more than 30 years, Aromatherapy Associates has never had a store of its own, but all that is to change with the launch of a flagship boutique in the centre of Knightsbridge. A one-stop-shop for all things holistic, the new boutique will stock the entire Aromatherapy Associates range and will also offer spa treatments based on aromatherapy. In addition to blended products, there’s also an Ingredients Bar, with trained aromatherapists on hand to explain how each of the essential oils works and provide advice on natural remedies.
‘It is a dream come true for us to have our own platform to shout about, and for people to experience, the life-changing benefits of aromatherapy,’ said founder, Geraldine Howard. ‘The space will be dedicated to the therapeutic value of essential oils and every person who walks through the door will take a valuable experience with them.’

Five of our favourite Aromatherapy Associates products
Essential Rose Facial, £75 (for 90 minutes)
OK, so it’s not a product per se; just one of the best facials you’ll ever have. Not only are all products used in it 100 per cent natural, the facial massage is out of this world and will leave skin glowing and supple. What’s more, it’s wonderfully relaxing and will leave you feeling ready for anything.
Deep Relax Bath and Shower Oil, £37
Perfect for icy winter evenings, Deep Relax contains a soothing blend of chamomile, sandalwood and vetivert essential oils, all of which have powerful calming properties. A small capful is enough to fragrance an entire bath, although for a stronger hit, smooth a little onto the skin before stepping into the shower. Either way, it leaves you feeling totally relaxed and a little bit sleepy.
Revitalising Face Oil, £37
Packed with powerful botanical extracts, the Revitalising Face Oil is a shortcut to soft, smooth skin. One of those rare products that works for almost any skin, rose essential oil helps to banish wrinkles and delivers a hefty dose of anti-oxidants, while frankincense tightens and brightens.
Enrich Hair Oil, £24
Oil might not appear to be the obvious choice for hair, but a little can go a long way to smoothing and soothing hair without stripping it of its own natural oils. Murumuru butter and coconut oil provide the extra moisture while ylang ylang, geranium and rosemary essential oils make everything smell lovely and have a restorative effect to boot. One word of warning though: it needs to be used sparingly to avoid a greasy look.
Enrich Body Butter, £33
Boasting seriously effective moisturising powers, the Enrich Body Butter is a true winter must-have. Based on babassu oil and murumuru butter, it gets rid of dry skin in double quick time while leaving the rest ultra soft and smooth. Thanks to a large dose jasmine and tonka bean essential oils, it also smells glorious.
