10:10:10 Global Day of Doing, 10 October, worldwide

Join thousands of people across the globe for a day of positive action on climate change

On 10th October 2010, thousands around the world will take simple steps to reduce their carbon emissions, sending a powerful message to world leaders that people everywhere are ready to tackle climate change.

From 10,000 schools planting trees in Croatia and Russia to a carbon-cutting TV telethon in the Netherlands, sumo wrestlers cycling to training in Japan and solar installations on the homes of world leaders in India and the Maldives, thousands of events are planned. You could mark 10:10:10 with a low-carbon Sunday lunch, make your home or workplace more efficient, or plan something more ambitious.

The day is being organised by the 10:10 campaign - an ambitious project to unite society in cutting emissions by 10 per cent in 2010. 10:10 is working alongside 350.org, which last year pulled off what CNN called the "most widespread day of political action in the planet's history”, with 5,200 events in 181 countries. With 1,500 events already registered, 10:10:10 will be even bigger.

Get involved

Is your birthday on or around 10:10:10? You could hold a low-carbon birthday bash with veggie food, local beer and guests arriving by bike.

Maybe you could finally insulate your house, replace that inefficient boiler or use the day to make a lasting change to the way your workplace uses energy. Thinking bigger? Why not team up with others to push for a 10 per cent commitment in your local town, or a new cycle lane?

Mark your event on the 350.org map or join an event that's already happening. Find tips and inspiration for the day on the 10:10 website.
