ExxonMobil: Record Profits and $10,000 to Deny Climate Change

On the day that ExxonMobil announced record profits of $39 billion reports have surfaced that the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a ExxonMobile funded think tank with close links to the Bush government, offered $10,000 each to IPCC scientists to undermine climate change findings.

The report, which you can read about here, is likley to be the most respected scientific guide to climate change ever published. It will form the foundation of any international agreements around a successor to Kyoto, such as Oliver Tickell's Kyoto2 proposal.

AEI has received more than $1.6 million in funding from ExxonMobil. 20 of its staff have worked as consultants to the Bush government and Lee Raymond, a former head of ExxonMobil, is the vice-chairman of the board of trustees.
