Liverpool Guild of Students: Communications Challenge Entry 2012
Show your support for the Liverpool Guild of Students by casting a vote for their A day in the life of... video
As part of this project we contacted LS Media student society to work with students in order to create a one minute film with an environmental message. The students met and decided on the message they wanted to convey in the film as well as developing a storyboard. Working with LS Media, the students helped with, and starred in the film, while LS Media were responsible for the editing and final production of the film. The film is set in Philharmonic Halls (student Halls of Residence) and the students’ union building to keep it relevant to students’ lifestyles. However, the film is not solely aimed at students and shows how this could be A Day In The Life Of...well anyone!
The film embodies the idea that living an ecologically-sound life is something that can be immensely satisfying and rewarding. Instead of having to make huge sacrifices in our lives, if we all made small changes to our daily routine, then we as a whole can make a huge difference to combating the challenges faced by climate change. The film focuses upon habitual changes that we can all easily make (don’t unnecessarily waste water, put on an extra layer instead of the heating, use sustainable means of transport, prefer to buy Fairtrade over other product choices) and shows how you can still enjoy yourself without missing out or having to be frugal. Included in the film are some of our environmentally friendly schemes running at Liverpool Guild of Students including our Book Swap scheme, which has proven to be hugely successful, and the Roof Garden project where herbs and vegetables are grown on the Guild roof and then used by our catering staff for the food served in the bar.
As well as entering the film for this award category we hope to circulate this around the student population through social media and word of mouth to encourage environmentally friendly behaviour and sustainable living.
Through small changes, we can make a huge difference!
